As I look at this busy street I see women and men. I see the
whole spectrum of skin tones. I see Christians and I see Muslims. And what
really appeals to me is how everyone is mixed together and going on with their
regular daily activities, not caring what type of person is right next to them.
No one should stereotype different races, genders, or religions. Because everyone is an individual and you can't give a title and description to a group when you don't even know the individuals. By judging people, it blocks one from most of the world. No one can learn anything if they are so narrow-minded.
What I really liked about this picture was that it was a symbol of unity and diversity. It doesn’t matter what someone looks on the outside, it only matters what’s on the inside and everything else is trivial. This picture showed many different shades of people all jumbled up together to show that this is how the world should be. We should not be separated by appearance.
I get stereotyped all the time, and I am sure most people have. People think that just because I am Indian must mean that I am super smart and my parents are strict and mean and force me to study. It must mean that I eat curry and smell weird. These are some typical Indian stereotypes that only people who don’t know me at all would say. I know a lot of Indians, and none of them really fit this description. Anyone would get offended by such comments because not only is it insulting you, it is insulting your whole culture, race, religion, or gender. It’s insulting millions of people at once and automatically shows the insulters feeling of superiority. But no one is more superior than another in this world, and that is what more people need to understand. I hope everyone in this world can be as peacefully diverse as this busy street.
